The Sullivan Whitetail Ranch offers Whitetail Hunts in Texas. Our whitetail deer ranch is a little over five hundred acres with the ability of hunting with archery, Muzzleloader, and rifle. Archery is the first Saturday in October through the first Saturday in November; now that does not mean that you cannot hunt archery anytime during our whitetail deer hunting season, but that first Saturday in November is when rifle will open for rifle hunters that are wanting to come whitetail deer hunt during that October month. We do supply Raven crossbows for anyone that is a rifle hunter looking to harvest earlier in the season before the rut when bucks start to break up and fight.
At the ranch, you will whitetail deer hunt over open alfalfa fields, narrow meadows, and from bow blinds strategically placed over corn feeders. The average archery shot is about thirty yards which is the distance from blind to corn feeders. Rifle stands are set up approximately 200 yards to feeders. Most rifle shots are typically about 250 or as close as you can get. Most whitetail deer hunters zero their rifles in at about two hundred yards so that is where we like to set up stands for rifle. For the experienced rifle shooter, or anyone looking for a challenge, our alfalfa field has the capability for a 400 to 500 hundred yard shot and maybe some of the biggest whitetail deer that are a little shy. Food sources for our whitetail deer are enhanced with alfalfa fields, protein feeders, corn feeders, and cotton seeds, so there is always plenty to feed and help our whitetail deer grow to maximum size with trophy worthy antlers.
Sullivan Whitetail Ranch has handicap accessible deer hunting blinds on the ground that have ramps up to them. Those whitetail deer hunting blinds can hold three people, but other whitetail deer hunting blinds we also use could fit up to five people, four comfortably. We offer handicap accessible whitetail deer hunting blinds, bow hunting blinds, and 10-foot whitetail deer hunting tower blinds with big windows for plenty of opportunity to make either an archery shot or rifle. The whitetail deer hunting tower blinds have more of a narrow higher window for you to be able to get a good steady rest and to make the shot that you are looking for. For the warmer months we offer fans for our whitetail deer hunting blinds and in the colder months we can provide heaters for that longer and more comfortable sit.
At BIG TEXAS DEER, our Texas whitetail hunts start with our guides meeting you at the lodge before daylight where we offer coffee and homemade pastries. You have the freedom to start your whitetail deer hunting day when you want. You or your group will be responsible for waking up on your own. This is not our whitetail deer hunting trip, it is yours, and what you do the night before is completely up to you, but you are responsible for getting up in the morning. Side by side ATVs will take you to your assigned whitetail deer hunting stand for the morning to begin your hunt. Your hunting guide will drop you off and go to park the side by side and come back to guide you on your trophy whitetail deer hunt. Most likely you will whitetail deer hunt until 8:30 or 9:00, most of the time, but we can hunt longer if you choose and depending on the weather. Guides and ranch hands will retrieve any downed animals and will offer photo opportunities with your kill.
When you return to the hunting lodge, Mama Dean (Holley) will have breakfast prepared usually consisting of eggs, bacon, biscuits, all homemade with love. After breakfast we typically hang in the ranch lodge and re-live the events of the morning including previewing all the pictures taken. For any whitetail deer hunters that might not have harvested that morning, we will escort you on a ride around safari style or spot and stalk. Hunters who would just like to relax at the hunting lodge, or for any visitors left behind, there is plenty to entertain! We have an all-turf par three golf course in the front yard overlooking our bass fishing pond. The golf course offers six tee boxes and nine different hole placements and is lighted for evening golf games. We supply all balls and clubs, but feel free bring your own equipment and get some short game practice in. The ranch also supplies all tackle for fishing in our stocked bass fishing pond which has up to 9-pound bass, catfish, sunfish, and tilapia for fishing fun.
We also provide you with a lunch though it is smaller than any of your other meals just because we find that after eating a big breakfast and having a big supper that not many people are going to eat during lunch. Lunch is provided each day around 1:30. After lunch we will go out for the evening, depending on the time of year that will usually be at 4 or 5 o'clock, and whitetail deer hunt either from stands or spot and stalk. After the whitetail deer hunt, your hunting guide will retrieve any downed animal, take a few pictures in the field and more back at the hunting lodge. Then it is time for a big dinner, some well needed relaxation, and you are always welcome to grab a drink and lounge around the fire pit on our porch. If you are looking for some things to do in the evening maybe a little night golf or our game room comes with shuffleboard, a pool table, a ping pong table, a hard card poker table, and a Pacman machine. You are also welcome to come and sit in our hot tub and simply relax.
In regard to deer hunting gear, everything is bigger in Texas, and so are the extremes in weather! Please check the forecast before leaving home and come prepared for the temperatures! Early season is typically pretty warm, but when temperatures drop, you want to be prepared with layers! We recommend you bring your favorite camo because it does not matter whether you hunt in Sitka, KUIU, or Mossy oak and the whitetail deer do not care either. Camo in any shade or style is recommended so just bring your favorite. Due to the typically cooler weather during whitetail deer season in Texas, guides do not wear or recommend snake boots; however, a good pair of hunting boots is essential. If you are bringing your own rifle, please bring two boxes of ammo, ear protection, and a good pair of binoculars. If you would rather not bring your own rifle or do not have one, we supply gun rentals and crossbow rentals. Please specify when making your reservation if you plan to rent a gun or bow for your hunt.
Our deer hunting lodge boasts 15,000 square feet for your enjoyment and relaxation and includes eight separate suites which are set up resembling a private hotel room. We have four king suites that include a desk, a king size bed, and a private bathroom with full shower as well as four double queen private suites with the same setup, two desks, and private bath. If your group has six or more deer hunters, likely your group will be the only one at the whitetail deer hunting lodge during your reservation. Total capacity for single hunters is twelve; however, for couples and families sharing rooms we can accommodate more. Our whitetail deer hunting lodge is set up for both private family visits and accommodating to corporate outings or retreats as well. All rooms are equipped with Wi-Fi and built-in phone chargers. The whitetail deer hunting lodge also has a media center with capabilities of Apple TV and Netflix, all included in the game room with surround sound speakers that have Bluetooth capabilities. Other amenities at our whitetail deer hunting lodge that are included in your whitetail deer hunt include a pool, hot tub, golfing, fishing, outdoor archery range with 3D targets, a full bar, beverage fridge, arcade games, ping pong table, shuffleboard, and covered patio all for your enjoyment during your stay.

Awesome video from the rut. The rut isn’t just the best time of year for a white-tailed deer. It’s the best time of year for a white-tailed deer hunter, too.
